Mackmyra – Björksav Swedish Single Malt Whisky

Mackmyra Björksav is a Swedish single malt whisky made as a spring edition in collaboration with the artisan winery Grythyttan Vin. Björksav means birch sap. Some of the casks were seasoned with Grythyttan's birch sap wine, made from local sap tapped just before the birch 'cracks' in spring. The result is a floral whisky with a fresh spiciness and sweet vanilla fudge. The nose is floral and fruity with light spice, vanilla fudge, sandalwood, cedar and toasted bread, alongside cherry, raisins, apple, pear and lemon. The palate adds toasted oak, floral honey, anise, white pepper and ginger, with a slightly oily texture. The finish is light and spicy, with toasted oak and dried fruit.
