Mackmyra Svensk Ek is a Swedish single malt in a 70cl bottle at 46.1% ABV, carrying no age statement. It was formerly sold as The First Edition, Mackmyra's first single malt.
Svensk Ek means Swedish oak. The whisky is matured in ex-bourbon casks together with heavily toasted, hand-coopered Swedish oak, which makes up roughly ten percent of the whisky. The oak comes from trees on the island of Visingsö.
The nose is fruity, with citrus, pear, apple and honey, light oak and fresh butter toffee. The palate is spicy, with sandalwood, dried ginger and black pepper over citrus, caramel and honey. The finish is balanced, with hints of dark chocolate.
