Mackmyra – Svensk Ek Swedish Single Malt Whisky

Mackmyra Svensk Ek is a Swedish single malt matured in virgin Swedish oak casks, which the distillery says had not been used for whisky maturation before. It is made with Swedish barley, the Swedish yeast found in household baking, and water from the Valbo ridge, filtered naturally through pebblestones. The nose is fruity, with pear, apricot and zesty citrus, sweet vanilla fudge and honey, and a little ginger and pepper. The palate follows with pear, citrus and dried ginger, then caramel, sweet almonds, slightly bready notes and spicy oak. The aftertaste is long and warming, with sweet milk chocolate set against oak, pepper and ginger.
