MacNair's Lum Reek 12 Year Old is a small-batch blended malt that brings together peated and unpeated single malts from Islay and Speyside, including aged GlenAllachie. Billy Walker composed the blend, and it was matured at The GlenAllachie Distillery in first-fill bourbon, Pedro Ximénez and red wine casks.
The name takes up the Scottish toast "Lang may yer lum reek", a wish for a long life. It is bottled at 46% in its natural colour and is not chill-filtered.
The nose has sweet peat smoke, butterscotch, warming mocha and soft nutmeg. The palate is rich, with heather honey, strong toffee and sweet spice over peat. The finish is long and warming, with lingering smoke, fine sherry sweetness and a hint of roasted caramel.
