MacPhail's 30 Year Old is a Speyside single malt bottled by Gordon & MacPhail at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled to the company's own specification and matured in casks made to its requirements. It is bottled without chill-filtration or added colour, and comes in a box.
Thirty years in cask give a sweet sherry influence alongside fruit and oak.
Stewed fruit, apple, roasted nuts, a touch of chocolate, honeycomb and dried apricot lead the nose. The palate opens with spice, then blackberry and apple, with raspberry, milk chocolate, mandarin and oak. The medium-length finish has a hint of menthol, cocoa and a lingering note of cola.
