Maiz Nation Selección Barbieri (70cl, 50%)

Maiz Nation Selección Barbieri is a non-chill-filtered Oaxacan whiskey bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It comes from Jonathan Barbieri, a painter turned distiller, and is released as single barrels and small batches. This batch was distilled at the solar-powered SolCraft Distillery in San Agustín Etla, Oaxaca. The mash bill is native corn, rye, wheat and malted barley, stoneground on site and fermented with rainwater. It was aged for at least three years in new, deep-charred American oak (No. 4 char). The nose is vanilla, toffee and charred oak. The palate is caramel sweetness with a peppery undertone, and the finish is warming, with lingering sweetness and spice.
