Mannochmore – 2014/2023 9 Year Old Tawny Port Cask Finish (Murray McDavid) (70cl, 50%)

This Mannochmore was distilled in 2014 and bottled in autumn 2023 at nine years old and 50%, in a run of 1,800 bottles for Murray McDavid's Benchmark series. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. It matured first in bourbon hogsheads, then spent its last two years in tawny port barriques that had not held whisky before, supplied by the Portuguese partner Caves de Murça. The port finish deepened the light, fruity character of the spirit. Red currants, strong malt and cocoa show on the nose. The palate brings robust grain, fruity chocolate and oak, and the finish is full of spice with mild fruit.
