Mannochmore 9 Year Old 2014/2023 - Murray McDavid - Tawny Port Cask

This is a 9-year-old Mannochmore from Speyside, selected by the independent bottler Murray McDavid. The spirit was distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2023, in an outturn of 1800 bottles. After its main maturation it spent two years finishing in Portuguese tawny port barriques from Cave de Murça. The bottle comes in deep petrol-coloured packaging with a metallic sheen. The nose combines red currants and tart cranberries with dark raisins, malt and a little cocoa. The palate has oats, ripe apricots, fine chocolate and dried fruit, with spicy oak and nuts. The finish holds lasting oak spice, wine gum fruitiness and soft marshmallow.
