This is a Mannochmore single malt from Speyside, bottled by Murray McDavid in its Cask Craft Collection, Batch 3. It is bottled at 44.5% in a 70cl bottle, with natural colour.
The unpeated, malt-led Speyside spirit was finished for several months in barriques and hogsheads that previously held Islay whisky from Caol Ila. The peated casks add sweet smoke, mild oak spice and a coastal character.
The nose offers gentle coastal peat smoke, red apple, peach and malted barley, with a little brine. The palate starts sweet and turns lightly savoury, with vanilla, spiced oak and orange. The finish is medium in length, with clove, black pepper, apricot jam and distant sea smoke.
