Mannochmore – Loch Dhu 10 Year Old The Black Whisky (70cl, 40%)

Loch Dhu is a 10-year-old Speyside single malt made with spirit from Mannochmore distillery. It was created in the 1990s by United Distillers, a forerunner of Diageo, and sold as The Black Whisky. It is bottled at 40%. Its very dark colour was marketed as the result of double-charred casks, though it owed more to a heavy addition of caramel colouring before bottling. That caramel also gave the palate a burnt, bitter note.
