A single cask Japanese single malt from Mars, distilled in 2020 and aged for four years on Yakushima. It comes from the Tsunuki distillery in the subtropical south of Kyushu, and is bottled from cask 2334 at 58.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Mars is a Japanese whisky brand owned by Hombo Shuzo.
The nose is lightly sulphured, with pepper, molasses, date, caramel and orange marmalade. The palate is deeply caramelised, with burnt oak, pepper, cloves and molasses, plus candied fruit in the form of date and prune. The finish is big and round, leathery, and runs on molasses.
