Mars – Iwai Tradition Blended Whisky (70cl, 40%)

Mars Iwai Tradition is a malt-dominant blended whisky from the Mars whisky brand of Japan, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Its mash bill is 75% malted barley and 25% corn, with a touch of the malt peated. It is aged in ex-Bourbon, sherry and wine casks. The colour is bronze. The nose is meaty, with sweet barbecue and cinnamon, and deep, syrupy bourbon notes without a bourbon's heat. On the palate come tropical fruit, particularly ripe banana, and malt candy. The finish adds a tannic, sautéed mushroom flavour.
