Mars Komagatake Shinshu Aging 2021 (70cl, 48%)

Mars Komagatake Shinshu Aging 2021 is a Japanese single malt bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It takes its name from Komagatake, the highest mountain in the Japanese Alps, and the distillery uses clear spring water from its slopes. For this 2021 edition the whisky was made at Shinshu and the casks also matured there, at almost 800 metres above sea level. The nose offers apricot, banana and full, creamy vanilla. Honey and hazelnut from the sherry casks come through on the palate, with a soft sweetness of melon, round, creamy and honeyed. The finish is soft, round and elegant.
