Mars Malt Duo Komagatake x Chichibu is a blended malt Japanese whisky released in 2021 as a collaboration between Mars Shinshu in Nagano and the Chichibu Distillery in Saitama. It is bottled at a cask strength of 54% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It marries Komagatake malt from Mars with single malt from Chichibu. The nose opens with red apple, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and a touch of ethanol warmth, with delicate florals emerging. The palate is smooth and viscous, with apple, vanilla, caramel and peppery spice. The finish is long, with fading spice, light oak dryness and an echo of apple.
