McConnell's 5 Year Old Sherry Cask is a whiskey aged for five years in bourbon barrels, then finished in Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled at 46% ABV.
The sherry finish brings aromas of dried figs, dark chocolate and lingering spice. The nose has dried figs and currants, with nutmeg, cinnamon, dark chocolate and a hint of fresh leather. The palate offers brown sugar, dark ripe cherries and black raspberry, followed by bitter dark chocolate shavings and red apples. The finish is long, with oak, a little leather and subtle clove.
