McKenzie Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 45.5%)

McKenzie Bourbon is a New York bourbon, double pot-distilled at Finger Lakes Distilling in Burdett, on the east shore of Seneca Lake. It is bottled at 45.5% in a 750ml bottle and is not chill filtered. The mash bill is 70% local heirloom Yellow Dent corn, 20% rye and 10% malted barley. The spirit goes into heavily charred new American oak at a low barrel-entry proof and spends about four years there on average. The McKenzie name belongs to the family that founded the distillery in 2007. The palate is round and grain-forward, with sweet corn and honey, then rye spice and cinnamon, and a weighty, chewy texture. The close is toasted oak and vanilla.
