Meikle Tòir "The Chinquapin One" is a 5 year old peated single malt from The GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside, in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV (96 proof). Meikle Tòir means 'big pursuit'.
The barley is kilned with peat from St. Fergus, giving 35 PPM and a sweeter style of smoke, and fermentation runs for 160 hours. The whisky is matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then in Chinquapin virgin oak barrels.
The nose brings smouldering oak embers, burnt liquorice and honey, with ginger, butterscotch and orange peel. The palate offers cocoa, crème brûlée and toasted almonds, with cinnamon, aniseed and campfire smoke.
