Meikle Tòir The Original is a peated Speyside single malt made at The GlenAllachie distillery under Billy Walker. It is five years old and bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with around 35 PPM of phenols.
The malt is made with peat from St. Fergus in Aberdeenshire and fermented for 160 hours. It matures in first-fill Bourbon barrels, virgin American oak and Rye barrels.
The nose brings pastry spices, toasted honey and espresso coffee, followed by hazelnuts, smoked almonds and butterscotch. On the palate sweet peat leads into plenty of chocolate and heather honey, then cinnamon, ginger and oak-smoked sugar.
