Michel Couvreur – Overaged Malt Whisky (70cl, 43%)

Overaged Malt Whisky is a long-standing bottling from Michel Couvreur, offered at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is always a vatting of malts of different ages: according to the house, the youngest is 12 years old and the oldest has spent up to 27 years in oak. The whisky is matured in sherry casks in a rock cellar in Burgundy. The nose has a fine smoke, less heavy than a classic Islay malt but clearly present, with bacon, salt and iodine, leather and tobacco, all set around green apple. The palate repeats these aromas, except the apple, within a pleasant malty sweetness. The finish is medium in length and gently warming.
