Millstone 2014/2025 10 Year Old Rye Founders Reserve Cask Strength (70cl, 52.6%)

A Dutch rye whisky from Millstone, made by Zuidam Distillers in Baarle-Nassau. It was distilled in September 2014, matured for ten years in American white oak and bottled in March 2025 at a cask strength of 52.6%, without chill-filtration or added colour. Zuidam makes it from rye ground by windmill, fermented for five days at a low temperature and distilled twice in small copper stills. The edition runs to 2,628 bottles of 70cl. The nose offers stewed red apples, dark berries, raisins, plums, cedar, vanilla and a little liquorice. On the palate plums and raisins meet honey, ginger, cinnamon, peppery rye and old leather. The finish is long and warming, with intense spice, fine oak and a hint of caramel.
