A single malt from Nikka's Miyagikyo distillery, the company's second distillery, built in 1969. It is made from less peated malt and distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam at a low temperature. The whisky is made from whiskies of various ages, matured mainly in ex-sherry casks, and is bottled at 45% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
On the nose come malted barley, banana, liquorice and camphor, then white flowers and beeswax. The palate is firm and lively, with ginger, cinnamon, chocolate, tobacco leaf and coconut. The finish is long and soft, with lemon, grapefruit, cardamom, toasted nuts and stewed apple and damson.
