Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt is a Japanese single malt from the Miyagikyo Distillery near Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture, bottled at 45% ABV. The distillery was founded in 1969.
The whisky is distilled from malted barley in steam-heated pot stills and matured mainly in sherry casks, with occasional bourbon or Mizunara oak influence.
The nose is floral, with pear, green apple and quince alongside honey, light chocolate and gentle spice. The palate is smooth and medium-bodied, with honeyed barley, vanilla, cinnamon, almonds and baked citrus peel. The finish is long and delicate, with malt sweetness, soft oak tannins and mild smoke.
