A Miyagikyo single malt released by Nikka to mark the 100th wedding anniversary of its founder Masataka Taketsuru and Rita, who married in Glasgow on 8 January 1920. It is a limited edition, bottled in 2020 at 47% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was finished in ex-brandy casks. Apples are a symbol for Nikka, as the couple began with apple juice and jam while waiting for their first whisky to mature.
The nose has baked apples under a dusting of ash, followed by peat and smoke. On the palate, candied apple and pear sit with light peat and herbs such as lemon balm and chervil. The finish is long, with liquorice, vanilla, citrus zest and dried fruit.
