This Mortlach is a 12-year-old single malt matured in a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead. That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottled it at natural cask strength, without filtering. Mortlach in Dufftown is known as the 'Beast of Dufftown', a reputation tied to its wormtub condensers. The nose offers liquid honey and warm caramel. The palate is dense, with strong sherry notes and dry wood alongside a noticeable peppery spice. The finish is long, with a robust maltiness and a subtle smoky depth.
