This is a 12 year old Speyside single malt from Mortlach in Dufftown, bottled at 43.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The Wee Witchie takes its name from the smallest still at the distillery.
The whisky matures in European and American oak, with both sherry and bourbon casks contributing to its flavour.
The nose offers oak and sandalwood with light spice, roasted toffee and red berries. The palate is full, with dark chocolate, cherry jam and Demerara sugar, plus warm spice, soft tobacco and a savoury, almost meaty note. The finish is smooth and dry, with dark plums, toasted wood and gentle spice.
