A 13-year-old Speyside single malt from Mortlach, part of the Diageo Special Releases of 2021. It was distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2021 at natural cask strength, 55.9%, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was matured in virgin oak and refill American oak, which add fresh oak, spice and sweetness to Mortlach's meaty character.
The nose combines honey, light smoke, vanilla, ripe stone fruit and oak spices. The palate is full and oily, with toasted oak, white pepper, toffee and orchard fruit. The finish is long, warm and spicy, with sweet malt and wood spices.
