This is a 15-year-old Mortlach from Speyside, selected and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail for its Distillery Labels range. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colour.
The whisky matured in first-fill and refill sherry casks. Gordon & MacPhail describe the Distillery Labels series as a reflection of its long relationships with chosen distilleries and the maturation of their spirit in Elgin.
The nose offers fresh malt, sherry, toffee, sweet liquorice and orange marmalade. On the palate come chocolate, cherry and blackcurrant jam with creamy vanilla. The finish is malty and citrus-led, with vanilla lingering.
