This is a 15-year-old Mortlach single malt, bottled by the independent bottler DS Tayman as the first release in a three-part series. It was finished in a Tonneau Cognac cask, which adds an elegant note to the distillery's robust, savoury character.
It is bottled at natural colour and cask strength of 55.75% without chill-filtration, and 368 bottles were filled in a 70cl size.
On the nose and palate expect warm baking spices, layered tropical fruit and dark chocolate, set against a backdrop of barbecued meats. The whisky is smooth and earthy.
