This is a 20-year-old Mortlach single malt from Speyside, matured in a combination of refill casks and ex-sherry casks. The Blue Seal, which Alexander Cowie used for his aged private stock release in 1909, returns to mark this bottling.
Mortlach was established in 1823 and was the first legal distillery in Dufftown. George Cowie and his son Dr Alexander Mitchell Cowie pioneered its 2.81 distillation.
The nose brings dried fruit and cedar. On the palate, pepper and cinnamon spice sit alongside smooth, mellow vanilla oak.
