This is a 15-year-old Speyside single malt from Mortlach, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Distillery Labels series. The series uses historically inspired labels and the company's stag's head logo.
It matured in first fill and refill sherry casks and has a natural amber colour. Mortlach is known for its 2.81 times distillation.
Sherry leads the nose, blended with malty sweetness and soft toffee, with vanilla and spiced liquorice. Ripe cherries and blackcurrant come through on the palate, with orange and a hint of roasted coffee. The finish is long and velvety, with beeswax and polished leather.
