Mortlach 16 Year Old is a Speyside single malt in a 700ml bottle at 43.4% ABV, nicknamed The Beast of Dufftown. It draws on the historic 16-year-old bottlings that made Mortlach famous.
It is made using Mortlach's 2.81 distillation method, which is said to give the whisky its characteristic meaty depth.
The palate is full and layered, with dark fruit syrup, dried plums, burnt sugar and spicy oak, plus a gentle hint of smoke and meat stock. The finish is long, warming and intense.
