This is an 18 year old Mortlach, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2026 by Murray McDavid in its Mission Gold range.
The spirit first matured in ex-bourbon hogsheads. It then spent its final four years in a Pedro Ximénez barrique from Bodegas Ximénez-Spinola.
The nose brings baked apples and dried apricots with a gentle sherry sweetness and a waxy texture. On the palate come soft toffee and ripe peach over a full, malty base. The finish is long, with buttery brioche and a quiet spiciness.
