This is a 50-year-old Speyside single malt from Mortlach, distilled in 1936 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 1986. It comes in a plain crystal decanter decorated with the intricate Book of Kells label, in a 75cl bottle at 40%. Gordon & MacPhail had been bottling 1936 Mortlach since at least the early 1970s, and this is thought to be the company's first Book of Kells version. It is described as having old-school flavours: ancient peat, heathery smoke, metal polish, tobacco, cocoa powder, rancio, old spices, cigar boxes, leather, old books, and tropical and green fruits.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
