This is a Mortlach distilled on 21 May 1957 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail on 21 May 2007, at a cask strength of 41.7% ABV. It matured in a refill sherry hogshead. The cask was filled at 63.4% ABV and stayed in the warehouse at Mortlach until August 1982, when it was moved to Elgin. The colour is burnished amber with a golden glow. The nose offers red fruits, dark cherries and apples with icing sugar and cinnamon, with orange and chocolate beneath and a long trace of old tawny port and dry Oloroso. The palate brings orange, malted barley sugar, Latakia tobacco, mulled apple wine, pine resin and pepper, finishing with apricot, hazelnut and sherry oak.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
