Mortlach – 2013/2025 12 Year Old Refill Hogshead Master of Malt (70cl, 61.6%)

This Mortlach is a 12 year old Speyside single malt, a single cask bottling by Master of Malt at a cask strength of 61.6%. It was distilled in 2013, matured in a refill hogshead and bottled in 2025, filling 300 bottles of 70cl. The restrained influence of the refill wood lets the heavy, malty distillery character and intense fruit come through. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. On the nose are creamy malt, overripe fruit and candied pineapple. The palate is full, with juicy barley, brown butter, yellow plum and hazelnut cream. The finish is long, with meaty malt, dense caramel, candied walnut and drying oak.
