Mortlach – 2022 Special Release (75cl, 57.8%)

Mortlach 2022 Special Release is a limited-edition Speyside single malt, bottled at 57.8% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Mortlach distils its whisky 2.81 times in six stills arranged in a pattern found nowhere else. This release was part-matured in virgin oak and finished in a combination of virgin oak, Tawny Port and Red Muscat wine casks, which give it a deep amber colour with ruby light. The nose is typically described as rich wine and sweet grape alongside the distillery's meaty character. The palate is intense, lively and sweetly fruity, with a gingery depth from the virgin oak.
