This is a 25 year old Speyside single malt from Mortlach, distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2020 by Wilson & Morgan at a cask strength of 56.1%. Only 225 bottles were filled.
After maturing in refill hogsheads, it spent a further 30 months in second-fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads.
The nose combines blood orange, ripe pear and red berries with earthy tones, a light balsamic note and toasted nuts. The palate is creamy and spicy, with leather, malty sweetness, juicy orange and a hint of dry wine, turning to warm spice and vanilla. The finish is long, waxy and sherried, with cinnamon and mocha.
