Mortlach – 25 Year Old Single Malt

This is a 25 year old single malt from Mortlach, the distillery in Dufftown, in the heart of Speyside. It is described as balanced and complex, with a broad bouquet of aromas and flowers. Mortlach was founded in 1823 and was the first legal distillery in Dufftown. Alexander Cowie joined the family business in 1896 and introduced the 2.81 distillation process, which is credited with the rich, muscular character of the whisky. The nose brings tropical fruit, tobacco and vanilla from the cask. The palate is complex, with dried fruit, almonds and a biscuit-like note, and the finish is long and intense.
