First-fill Oloroso sherry finish
This is a 32 year old Speyside single malt from Mortlach, distilled in 1987 and bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 76.147, in a 70cl bottle. It is one of 178 bottles from a single bourbon cask. After its time in bourbon wood, the whisky was finished in a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask, which adds a sherry influence to the old bourbon cask character. The nose suggests grilled tuna marinated with soy, orange and garlic, then roasted figs with honey and Marsala over vanilla ice cream. The palate recalls tagliatelle with porcini and shaved truffle. With water, crystallised exotic fruit, wood spices, dried herbs and candied blood orange come through.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
