Mortlach – 33 Year Old 1988/2021 Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice Refill American Hogshead

This Speyside Mortlach was distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2021 at 33 years old, as part of Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice series. It matured in a single refill American hogshead, which supports Mortlach's robust character without heavy oak spice. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural amber colour. The nose offers ripe red apples, sweet clementines and a trace of beeswax. The palate brings lemon sorbet, shortcrust pastry and poached pear, with honey sweetness and hints of cinnamon and black pepper. The finish is long, with delicate citrus and a lightly floral spice.
