This is a 38 year old Mortlach from Speyside, selected and bottled by Adelphi. It was distilled in 1987 and matured throughout in a second-fill bourbon hogshead, cask 1594, before bottling in 2025 at 45.9% ABV. The cask gave 187 bottles.
The nose runs from icing sugar, travel sweets, candied pear, Turkish delight and marzipan to peony, custard, banana, birch bark and chalk. The palate brings pine needles, pink grapefruit, guava, pink peppercorns, Damask rose, tangerine, dried ginger, leather and amaretto. The finish is medium, coating the palate with lemony freshness.
