New Holland Beer Barrel Baked Apple Pie is a flavoured bourbon from New Holland Spirits in Holland, Michigan, bottled at 35% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The base is a high-barley bourbon aged for one year in new American oak, then moved into barrels that previously held Dragon's Milk, the company's bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout. This adds a roasted malt sweetness beneath the apple and cinnamon flavouring.
The nose is baked apple and ground cinnamon, with a hint of pie crust. The palate brings apple crumble, brown sugar and candy apple, then building cinnamon and peppery warmth with a little malty depth. The finish is fairly short, with apple, cinnamon and pie-crust dryness.
