Nikka Rare Old Super Blended (70cl, 43%)

Nikka Rare Old Super Blended is a Japanese blended whisky, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. Super Nikka dates from 1962. Masataka Taketsuru, who founded Nikka Whisky, created it soon after the death of his wife Rita, to express his love for her. He had travelled alone to Scotland in 1918 to learn how whisky is made, and he could not have realised his dream of making genuine whisky in Japan without her support. It is a classic style of blend with gentle peatiness and hints of vanilla and sherry, well balanced, with a smooth texture and mellow mouthfeel.
