Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt (70cl, 43%)

Taketsuru Pure Malt is a Japanese blended malt from Nikka, named after Masataka Taketsuru, the company's founder. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The blend combines single malts from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries and contains no grain whisky. Yoichi adds body and a light peaty smoke, while Miyagikyo brings floral and fruity notes and a smooth texture. The nose has polished wood, vanilla pod and lemon biscuit, with a little herbal character and citrus. The palate is waxy, with star fruit, preserved lemon, Asian pear, lychee and peach syrup. The finish is spicy and sweet, with a trace of peat and dark chocolate.
