Nikka Yoichi Single Malt (70cl)

Nikka Yoichi Single Malt comes from Nikka's first distillery, founded in 1934 on the island of Hokkaido, in conditions close to those of Scotland that inspired its founder, Masataka Taketsuru. It is a vatting of malt whiskies of different ages, in a 70cl bottle. The stills at Yoichi are heated directly over a coal fire, and the water comes from an underground source filtered through peat. This expression won a silver medal at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards, in the category for Japanese whisky without an age statement. It is described as balancing smoky, fruity and floral notes.
