This is the 2022 Special Release of Oban 10 Year Old, a single malt finished in amontillado sherry casks. The finish adds a little richness and a hint of cinnamon.
It is a discreet, autumnal Oban, with plenty of green apple, hedgerow flowers and sea salt.
The nose shows soft stone fruit, the funky side of sherry, ripe fig, dark chocolate and maraschino cherry. The palate is soft, fruity and funky, with pink grapefruit, blood orange, blackberry, plum, baklava, rose water and cherry clafoutis. The finish is woodier and slightly tannic, with a creamy note of salted cashews.
