This is the 2022 Special Release of Oban 10 Year Old, bottled at a cask strength of 57.1%. The whisky was matured in refill and new American oak, then given a second maturation in casks that previously held sherry and Amontillado.
The nose is gentle and maritime, with salt crystals, edible seaweed and sea air, then a very faint smokiness with olive oil and citrus. The palate is soft and creamy, with winey fruit, sweet violet and spiced plums, balanced by salt and lively spice. The finish is very long and peppery, leaving a soft hint of chilli.
