Oban 11 Year Old The Soul of Calypso is a Highland single malt from the Diageo Special Releases 2023, bottled at a cask strength of 58% as a limited edition.
The whisky matured for 11 years in ex-bourbon casks, then was finished in Caribbean pot still rum casks. Master blender Dr Stuart Morrison created it under the theme 'Spirited Xchange'. It is bottled without chill-filtering or colour correction.
The nose brings chocolate ice cream, dried mango, gingerbread, spiced apple chutney, ripe banana and citrus peel. The palate opens with spice, vanilla, orange chews, cinnamon and tropical fruit juice, and the finish is baking spices and caramel with lasting warmth.
