Oban 14 Year is a Western Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It comes from the Oban distillery, founded in 1794 in the harbour town of Oban on the West Highland coast.
The distillery is hemmed in by the town on three sides and sea cliffs on the fourth. Its coastal location and lightly peated character place the whisky between the rich Highland style and the smokier Islay style.
The nose brings sea salt, heather honey, dried fruit, light peat smoke and vanilla. The palate is malty and sweet, with orange peel, gentle smoke and oak spice, followed by a long, warming finish of maritime smoke.
