This is Oban 14 Year Old in a special release made for the bicentenary of the distillery, which was founded in 1794 and marked its 200th year in 1994. The bottling was released in that anniversary year.
The colour is gold. The nose leans towards the coast, with dried kelp, paraffin and a grassy polish, alongside something metallic like an old copper kettle, plus chestnut and autumn leaves. It is a dry nose throughout.
On the palate it is salty and dry, with leather, tobacco and notes of both old and fresh walnuts. The finish is rather long.
